The Unexpected Journey

As I continue to navigate this terrain called ‘being a care-giver to someone with a chronic disease’ I am learning to “Love What Is”.

Care-giving can be a challenging journey filled with grief and loss. But even amidst the difficulties, there is still love, joy, and connection to be found. On my Substack today I share what it means to Love What Is and seven simple steps can help you embrace all of it and find moments of peace and gratitude along the way.

I hope you come join me — The Unexpected Journey.

…the platitudes of my insistence, “It’s okay.” But it’s not OK, and he and you both know it. So yes, so much grief on many levels. And I am glad you are proactively noting how to care for the caregiver.

    • Thank you Bernie — “it’s not ok and you both know it.” That is the challenge right? To live with that reality without it feeling like a doomsday cloud so we can find the beauty and grace in all of it.

      Thank you! ❤

  2. Such a very moving blog today Louise. As we all age, none of us know what we will end up dealing with. I can’t imagine what it must be like to have trouble breathing. I would imagine it would be not only frustrating but also a frightful experience unable to catch one’s breath. I’m sure CC feels terrible as well that he can no longer do what you both had planned for in your retirement. I particularly I loved where you said “ For in grieving what was, we are learning to love what is – a love that finds joy in the quiet moments, in the shared silences, in the simple act of being together. Even in the face of loss, love endures. Always”. So true Louise – it’s so very true. I also enjoyed and am saving the important steps you wrote at the end of your blog. You both are very blessed that you still love and have one another – yes love will always endure. Thanks so much for this today. I will be keeping you both in my prayers. Val🙏🏼❤️

    • Thank you Val.

What gives me strength, and hope and a sense of peace is writing it out and then having beautiful souls like you chime in and share their thoughts and wisdom and hope and strength.

Thank you for being you, and for following along and being here. ❤
