It is easy to get caught up in all the chaos and activity of the world around you.
Traffic, people, TV and computer and cellphones and other devices are constantly calling for your attention.
We all need a break.
Give yourself a break throughout the day.
No matter what you’re doing, take five or ten minutes to simply get present with where you are at outside and inside.
Sit quietly. Close your eyes. Breathe deeply. Slowly. In. Out. Slowly. In. Out.
Imagine a river of love rising up all around you.
It envelops your toes, your feet, your ankles, calves, knees, thighs and as it rises, it embraces you in warmth and love washing away all the tension of your day.
Let it keep rising and imagine that as it rises, your body begins to lift until you are floating on the river’s warm, beautiful surface.
Floating.
Gently. Effortlessly.
Spend five minutes simply resting in the river’s embrace knowing it is love that supports you, holds you up, keeps you safe.
Repeat several times throughout the day.
Namaste.
… and now to put it into day action again π
Thanks for the reminder Louise. Its so easy to et this awareness slide beneath the external demands.

I’ve been following Cheryl for a long time and I really like her blog; I think that’s maybe my favorite of her posts. Glad you enjoyed it too!

I need quite, it’s what keeps my head sane. One thing I hate about being here is I never can get that. It’s a very noisy place, always.

I can imagine how hard it is Mary to be somewhere busy after all the beautiful time you spend in the wilds. YOur photos always give me a mini-break of peace and quiet.

My grandmother was a Quaker. She always said, and mom my now repeats it “has thee taken time for thyself today”. It is timeless advice that we often forget…

Your grandmother sounds delightful Jennifer. As does your mom. It is timeless advice that is too easy to forget.

good advice, but do you take it? I find the daily frenzy take me off-course and off-plan a lot, so I’ve modified my schedule … I take time at each end of the day – like bookends – to take some quite, borderline-meditative, time to be quiet. And, I bought noise cancelling headphones for better concentration in the middle of the day!

This is something I strive to do throughout the day Mark — it makes a big difference for me.
Love the noise cancelling headphones idea!
