I am probably the exception to the rule as I love genealogy so I do indeed know names and birth places. 100 for sure my daughter will never know or care if she knows this. I am giving little tidbits to my grandkids all the time. Bernie

I never met my father’s mother, only his father. And only my mother’s mother, not her father.
I have made a determined effort to ensure my grandchildren know me — and my grandson did meet and know his great grandmother — and though she passed before my granddaughter was born, my daughter ensures Ivy, my granddaughter, know her name was her great-great grandmother’s name, and that love never dies.
It’s quite beautiful to hear them talk about my mother and her heritage.

That’s beautiful. One of my great grandma’s passed when I was around 2. My Grandma has always talked about her, and I do feel a connection to her from that. I have a sense of knowing her. When I see her in old home videos I want so badly to be able to meet her though.
