My back has decided to go on strike today.
It is possible that I have been ignoring its signals. Okay. Make that probably. Yes.
With so much to do still to get the house ready to go on the market, I am not taking as good care of my body as it deserves.
Time to reset.
Time to listen into what it is telling me and not just pretend it doesn’t have a voice or that it is invincible.
How often do you ignore your body’s signals only to find yourself on the other side of feeling your best?
Listen to your body today. Tell it you hear it. Honour its messages and treat it with tender loving care.
This is your one and only life. And, your one and only body. Treat it like it matters. Treat it like it makes a difference in how you live your life — it does!
Namaste.

listening to our bodies is great
but what are we listening for?
my body is always saying ‘sleep, rest, relax .. that’s what I want’
yet I KNOW what it needs from me is ‘exercise, activity, smarter diet, and a good night’s sleep’ … which are not the same things
taking care of our bodies is one of the most important things we do – and it probably gets the least attention ..

I like the clarity you give this Mark — and I believe that when we ‘listen’, not just to the chatter of the mind body, but to our whole body, we let go of the need to engage in that battle of will and do the things we know take care of our bodies well.

Putting your home on the market is a stressful event. Your body might be reacting to that tension. I went to a talk at my fitness center and it was recommended that we stand with our back to the wall as flat as we can, knees slightly bent, neck pulled back and top of head pulled up. Try walking in that posture!! Yet this is the way our posture is meant to be. Try it! π

Okay! I will — but it sounds uncomfortable just reading it! π
Thank you for dropping in Mary Lou — and yes, my body might be reacting to that tension. It is a LOT of work! π

The body speaks. Sometimes I wish it were less cryptic and would calm down. Periomenopause is currently speaking nonsense, like an overtired toddler. Grrrr. I hope your back feels better.

I hear you about ‘body-talk’ E. So sorry Periom is being unruly — it does get better! β€

Take it easy Louise. I recall a wise person saying to a student … donβt bend over backwards for others so much and you will feel better. I would add, be careful of the heavy lifting as well!
Our bodies are the most important relationship we have. We come into this world in them and leave this world in them. Respect and honor this relationship π

I love how you frame it as a relationship to be respected and honoured Val. Thank you — I also love the “don’t bend over backwards for others’ comment! π

Having just gone through a move that involved considerable downsizing efforts, my best friend is a registered massage therapist. Good for the body, good for the soul. I think I may have finally learned my lesson, as we age, our bodies are less resilient, ergo I do what I can as I know I will not like the next day if I do just a bit more when I am on a roll. Positive outcome – if one takes the time to rest, relax and reflect, sometimes a better approach will to a task materializes, saving one unnecessary pain and anxiety.

I try to listen to my body, often it is screaming that everything hurts and it wants to rest and recover and I won’t let it do so
