What do you want more of in your life? It’s a question often asked in personal development courses.
What do you want? More of? Less of? None of? Lots of?
What you focus on makes a difference.
When I focus on the things that bring me joy, happiness, integrity, beauty, love, I move closer to the things I want.
If I focus on ‘the lack’, the things that don’t work, that upset me and pull me down, the less becomes my focus, drawing me away from all ‘the more’ I want to live a rich and fulfilled life.
What do you want more of in your life?
Aside from the obvious answer, “I want more life/time in my life”, I think of one of my favourite poems – The Dash – an answer, if there ever was one, to this question. Viktor Frankl’s ‘Man’s Search For Meaning’ is a great read and deeper-dig, but the Dash is short and powerful. As are you …

I echo M. Kolke’s comment about Victor Frankel’s book. BTW, a new edition has been released.
My outlook on what I want from life, what I have received to date, and what I would like from life was altered after I read the book for the first time, a number of years ago, I re-read it this past summer given the turmoil in my life and found solace in that realizing that wanting more may not necessarily be a good thing. It is the “what” that comes to mind. Less stress, less one-upmanship”, less greed. More peace and personal quiet, more happiness in accepting the small things that bring hope and stability.
Thanks for the link to the poem.
I won’t gloat 🌞🌞🌞 but the Middle Kingdom (aka Ontario, specifically Eastern Ontario) is in the throes of an incredible autumn. Yes, we will pay for all this splendiferous warmth, sun, t-shirt and shorts weather – one day soon!
