I awaken from a dream, words flowing effortlessly. I surrender to the current, carried along by the momentum of change.
Big changes are upon us. C.C. and I are selling our beloved home, venturing towards the coast, towards sea level. We seek a sanctuary where his breath can find ease, where the COPD’s barbed-wire grip on his lungs might loosen.
In the midst of preparing our house for the market, it’s easy to forget to breathe. Even without the physical constraints of barbed wire, anxiety can constrict my own lungs.
The vastness of possibilities unfolding before us can get lost amidst the mundane tasks of decluttering and sorting through years of memories. Photos, trinkets, and bookshelves overflowing with stories—each a testament to the life we’ve built together.
This home, lovingly crafted to embrace our family, friends, and furry companions, holds countless tales. Laughter echoing over anger, joy enveloping sorrow, love nourishing us through it all.
Amidst the chaos, it’s easy to forget that this adventure—this journey towards the unknown—has always been our life together.
Will You Dare?
by Louise Gallagher
Morning intrigue,
a room full of doors,
some flung wide,
sunlit and warm
with possibilities beckoning
others cracked slightly open,
curiosity whispering an invitation,
a door shut tight,
locked-up secrets lurking,
silent and foreboding.
Beyond each threshold, a mystery
unfolding
birdsong,
a city's hum,
the thrum of rain on distant fields
a voice, a scream, a cry, a laugh, silence.
Somewhere, a rooster crows
morning awakens
dawn flees
the day awaits.
Which door will you choose?
Which unknown path
will you dare to tread?

Wow, very exciting!

Yes! That would be lovely. Let me get this house organized and all that jazz and we’ll figure something out! ❤

Sounds like a very well thought out plan Louise to move to B.C. considering CC’s health and also being able to watch your precious grandchildren growing up…….it happens so quickly. What city/town are you moving to? The Island is such a beautiful place to live and lots to see and do. Hopefully you will continue to blog from time to time as it’s always so enjoyable reading it. I wish you and CC the very best – a nice change for everyone and many new places to travel and explore! Hugs! Val

Thanks Val! We’re going to Gabriola island. My sister and her husband live there and I really want to spend more time with her + it’s just a ferry ride over to Vancouver or floatplane so close enough to my grandchildren and daughter to make it comfortable and fun! One of my goals is to once again be more consistent in my writing here. ❤

We went there a few years ago and really enjoyed it – so nice that you will also be able to spend more time with your sister. Bet your little grandchildren are very excited knowing they will see you more often. So much to look forward to and enjoy! My very best to both of you🥰

Closer to grandkids as well! Where abouts are you looking? I am sure selling will be easy but buying pretty stressful. When in too deep take a big deep breath.

And the closeness to them is a big deal! We’re moving to Gabriola Island Bernie. we both love the island and it will allow my sister and I to spend more time together as wel. We are the remaining two of our famiy of 6. We’re going to rent for a bit to ensure it is right for us and see what happens which is a relief as it’s hard to find a home on the island that suits!
and yes — there are a lot of big deep breaths on my agenda! 🙂 I may not be digging tree well and such but carting boxes and all that jazz is tiring! 🙂

Although you made find it actually takes you more time to get to Vancouver than flying from Calgary. 2 ferries and some driving time
